“STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Just after the St. Patrick’s Parade on Forest Avenue, Liberty Tavern shut down. On Thursday, however, it rose up once again, this time as The Liberty Tavern Grill.
And the food might just be familiar to West Brighton residents who recall Afternoone’s restaurant, formerly down the block in the 400 section of Forest Avenue. That’s because Joe Territo, Afternoone’s owner, plans for a similar menu in his new venture at Liberty.
“Mac and cheese burgers, Grandma’s meatball appetizers, steak sandwiches with caramelized onions and horseradish sauce will be served along with some Afternoone’s classics,” says Joe. Those dishes like wings, thick burgers plus specials like steaks and chops will be mainstays.
